Wisdom Under Construction
Internal Dissonance catches up
Keep Safe Means Keeping Small
There's a point where 'casual talk'—whether it's gossip, people pleasing, or similar, seems like the safest way to connect. While it's not the best approach, it feels the safest.
Because under the surface of many conversations, beneath the jokes, the nods, the knowing glances, is a very human fear:
• The fear of not belonging • The fear of standing out • The fear of losing control
And in environments where these fears go unacknowledged, it becomes easier to follow the unspoken rule: Look after yourself. Blend in. Don't rock the boat.
Stay with the flock. Don't be the bold one.
The Tension We All Know
For some, wearing the mask is easy - just another day. But for others, the lie grows heavier. The constant pretending. The hollow smiles. The quiet surrender of boundaries, again and again, just to feel accepted. That desperate need to belong until finally, the something rebels. The price of trading your truth for approval becomes too steep to pay.
Your body isn't whispering - it's screaming for your attention. Through clenched fists of anger, the weight of depression, the fire of chronic pain. Through relationships that fracture and illnesses that persist. These aren't random misfortunes - they're desperate signals, a biological SOS: Something must change
It's a tension so many of us know: the pull between the part that wants to belong and the part that wants to be bold.
Because being your bold, best self often means standing out. And standing out isn't always safe, especially in environments where conformity is rewarded more than creativity.
Why We Don't Just "Be Our Higher Selves"
We hear it all the time in our social media feeds: "Be your higher self." "Choose positivity." "Leave the old behind."
Sounds good. But the truth is, the "old" doesn't just disappear because we want it to.
Those protective patterns? They've kept us safe for years. They're not enemies to be banished. They're just old strategies looking for guidance in today's world.
And when we don't listen to them, when we try to override them with hustle or perfection or pleasing, they often fight back... in the form of stress, burnout, illness, disconnection.
Listening to What's Real - Right Now
We're rarely taught to listen inward. To ask:
• What do I want? • What's my body asking for? • What do I feel, underneath the noise?
And so, instead of slowing down, we speed up.
We hammer our livers with alcohol, hammer our stomachs with stress—or food—or both.
We say yes when we want to say no. We chase validation and call it ambition.
And it can even feel like fun... until it doesn't.
A Different Kind of Leadership
What if the real "lead" in our lives wasn't the loudest voice in the room, or even in our own heads?
What if it was the quiet knowing in our gut, our body, our intuition?
This isn't about judging ourselves for being fast or messy or human. It's about noticing the pace we're moving at, and asking if it's really ours.
Because when we slow down enough to feel, even boredom, even discomfort, we might uncover something we've been carrying all along:
A diamond in our pocket - As Gangaji describes it.
What happens when we reconnect with our sensing selves?
What happens when people are given the space to reconnect to their sensing selves? To actually feel?
Not perform. Not people-please. Just be present in their own experience.
It's not always easy. But it is always worth it.
And the beauty of that? It's not about becoming someone else. It's about remembering who we've been all along, beneath the gossip, beneath the control, beneath the striving.
That version of us? That's the one the world is waiting for.
Many will not want to explore this territory; however, for some, there is a call and a curiosity. How much of yourself will you continue to silence just to be liked? The day you stop paying that price is the day you truly begin.
